One of the most beautiful beaches in the world (just a little cold for swimming!). Take a nice long walk along the sandy beach, especially when the tide is out. As a provincial park they also have firepits, picnic tables, and two great hiking loop trails along the water. Take the old highway for a much more scenic drive, take the Pennfield exit and follow Route 175.

If you are looking for a local swimming spot most people go to Canal beach. It's maintained by the town, with lots of space for parking and a nice sandy beach. You can walk all the way down to 'the point', it's where the river flows into the lake. The beach is less than a 10 min drive down the road, towards Bonny River.

A great afternoon trip. It's about a 15 min drive to the ferry (free, runs every 30 min), which takes you to Deer Island. You can drive around the island, stopping for seafood at the 45th Parallel Restaurant, checking out the Old Sow whirlpool from the Deer Island Point campground, or stopping to poke around any of the beaches along the way. Make it a full day trip by taking the second ferry over to Campobello Island, and if you have your passport drive back through Maine to do a full loop.

Nice stop to see the salmon ladder and hydro dam, typically not alot of water running in the summer but in the spring it's at full speed. Be sure to drive down to the lower bridge and get the iconic shot with the historic red power station buildings. You can walk to the Falls, or drive, it's about 1.5kms from the house.

Great short trail along the river for a morning or an evening walk. You can catch the trail just down the street. Walk to Riverview Ave, turn left towards town. Walk until you see the collection of small cedar shingled buildings on the left, the trail starts by the boat ramp.
