This historical Pacific Railroad Station has been converted into an adorable unique restaurant with a tasty American cuisine. Full bar available. Most food here is made from scratch. My favorite here is the Apple Bourbon Pork Chops. Save room for dessert! Sit down restaurant or take-out. Open for lunch and dinner.

Est. 1948, has been a local staple for as long as I can remember, dine-in, take-out, or Carhop service at this casual old school style spot, either way the BBQ is a local must. My go to is a Triple Combination BBQ sandwich and the Cheese Curds! The ribs are delicious too!

The Home Garden Community Market I love going to this Mennonite owned Market, It doesn’t get any fresher than this Farm Grown Produce. Seeing the community on their horse and carriages is such a neat experience that you don’t see every day in the city. Fresh produce, Baked Goods, Jams, Honey, HomeMade Soaps. If you are there and they haven’t ran out of their fried pies, grab one or 2, you won’t regret it! They also have the sweetest watermelons and the best tomatoes.

Nature/Hiking

One of my favorite places to go and share with friends! A short hike to the crystal clear Castor River Shut-ins and giant volcanic rock formations. Bring your camera for pics and your suit and a towel to take a dip!

Gorgeous rock formations in the river and beautiful wooded areas along the St. Francois River. Fish for bass, crappie, walleye, google eye and sunfish. Or pack a picnic and sit back riverside and relax. The Whitewater Championships take place here in March.

With the ancient St. Francois Mountains, the unspoiled natural landscape and the cool waters of the St. Francis River and Big Creek, Sam A. Baker State Park has something for everyone. Access to both the river and creek gives anglers the opportunity to hook many varieties of fish and canoeists the chance to float year-round. Several miles of hiking, backpacking, bicycling and equestrian trails provide glimpses of the area as the earlier settlers found it. Exhibits in the park’s nature center interpret the natural and cultural history of the park.

旅行者へのアドバイス

必要な持ち物

Water Shoes, not flipflops. Bug spray in the summer.

Having secure water shoes that stay on your feet make a huge difference in your river experience. Having your flipflops float down stream while walking on sharp rocks is not fun! And I highly recommend bug spray we are in the woods and bugs are around, be prepared so you have a pleasurable nature experience.
