Food scene

New Mexico's first foodhall! Located in an industrial-chic corner of Albuquerque, Sawmill Market is New Mexico’s first food hall, housing vegan ramen, low-alcohol cocktails, and flower arrangements under one roof. A second food hall (unrelated owners) is set to open two miles down.

Very cool restaurant that features salads. The first Vinaigrette opened in 2008, in a funky adobe house in downtown Santa Fe. Around the same time she was learning how to grow food in the high desert, with its scarce water and slim soils, owner/founder Erin Wade had the idea for a restaurant that served delicious and satisfying entrée salads—a place that made healthy eating joyful and easy. She began developing the menus and concept with the produce she was growing.

This is a great place to find local restaurants and merchants. This area will have shop and strolls where Central Avenue is blocked off for pedestrian use only. They also have multiple parades throughout the year! A very fun place :)

City/town information

Santa Fe, New Mexico’s capital, sits in the Sangre de Cristo foothills. It’s renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture and as a creative arts hotbed. Founded as a Spanish colony in 1610, it has at its heart the traditional Plaza. The surrounding historic district’s crooked streets wind past adobe landmarks including the Palace of the Governors, now home to the New Mexico History Museum.

If you're into art, this tiny town is chockfull of artists. This is the zaniest place to go and wander in and out of shops. It's also not far from Albuquerque, just a quick trip up North 14 from I-40 East.

The children's museum!! It is phenomenal, has play structures, and life-size Lincoln Logs that you can build your own cabin with! There is a beautiful quiet corner for kids who might become easily overwhelmed. They also have adult night for those adults that want to know how wine is fermented!!

This dino museum isn't just full of dusty bones - you walk through time and tour the insides of volcanoes and caves. It's very interactive and has a Dynatheatre. Check out the geode display and the Hall of Stars.

This zoo is HUGE! I admire it because many of the animals that they take in are rescues and need help. There is a cute zoo train that takes you for a tour inside, BUT there is also a larger train that takes you along the Rio Grande River to the Aquarium and Botanic Gardens! If you plan to tour all 3 places, be sure to plan for at least 5 hours. All of BioParks are rather large.

Look out for the hidden murals around town!

NM has amazing artists, and it shows! All over town you will find wall murals that cover the city in color.

Red or green?

When you visit restaurants, the waiter may ask, "red or green?" They are asking if you would like red or green chile piled gloriously on top your order. If you're in the know, you might answer "Christmas", which is red and green chile together!!
