We visited Big Slide a number of times when we come up to Lake Placid. It is located just outside of town near the ski jumps. They have a great selection of beers, but also cocktails and wine, along with food.

A great visit any time of the year. Great for hiking, views, and more
Great views at the top of the mountain, or go to the other side for some magnificent skiing. Slopes for all experience levels. With 90 trails stretching over 3 peaks, this is the best ski resort in the Adirondacks. Great views of the surrounding area during all seasons. Ride the Cloudsplitter Gondola to take in views. During the summer, you'll see wildflowers growing on the mountain.

The Jay Covered Bridge is the only covered bridge in Essex county. It's worth a visit as it is only a few minutes from our cabin. Can stop there on the way to the Adirondack Mountain Coffee Cafe for breakfast

Jay (on NY-9N) sits on the south of the West Branch of the Ausable River, bordering Au Sable Forks has much to offer for sights and relaxation. Well known for its covered bridge, built in 1857. In the town of Au Sable Forks, there is a grocery store, shops, and other activities.

There are trails within our community that can be used for hiking made from herd paths and old logging roads. If going on the trails, please remain on marked areas and preferably use a GPS or compass. Cell phone service can be spotty in the area.

Cabin prepared for your kids
There is a pack and play kept for kids, along with kids games, and reading material. Our family has young kids and we have supplied various items just for the enjoyment of children.

There is Uber/Lyft in the area
Ride sharing is available in the area. Service has been limited, but there are drivers that are accepting rides daily. Most sights and activities are within 15 minutes, but having the option of someone driving you is great.

Going hiking during the winter?
Make sure that you pack the proper winter gear, i.e. snow shoes/boots, snow pants, hats and gloves. Most importantly, remember to sign in and out when going onto hiking trails. There are also trails within our development that. We are members of the AAPOA association, so please feel free to use the trails.
