This neighborhood is the perfect blend of commercial and residential, practical and scenic. From brownstones and mansions to prewar apartment buildings lining the streets and 3rd and 5th avenues offering an array of shops, including ethnic grocers, pharmacies, boutiques, dollar stores, cafes, etc. Several parks including Owl's Head and Shore Parkway with views of Manhattan and the Verrazano. Extremely culturally diverse where you can hear Chinese, Mexican, Arabic, and Russian being spoken all on one corner.

Subway & Ferry
While subway is probably the best way to get around the city, sometimes driving is faster. The ferry (same as subway fare) is less populated than the subway or buses and also gives you a chance to see the Manhattan skyline!
