Hiking and Outdoor fun
Fahnestock State Park is a huge state park right next door to us, and it has a wealth of activities. There are GREAT hiking trails just down the road from us (see parking areas just about a mile up Dennytown road). There is also a lake for swimming (off of rt 301) and a their Winter Park has cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing and more!

A beautiful place with easy hiking trails and the opportunity to visit the design center. They have 3 or 4 short easy hikes but their trails also link in to the Appalachian Trail.

A great place for a short hike. Spectacular river views and floating boardwalks. They recently limited all parking so please call ahead before visiting. An option for getting there is to take the trolly (in season) from cold spring.

Breakneck is a very popular mountain in Cold Spring. There are several trails and loops varying in difficulty. Beautiful views of the Hudson, but crowded in peak times. There are other less popular but equally beautiful hikes.

Want to see a waterfall? This is a locals secret. Park in the main parking area and follow the Tall Trees Trail. You'll see enormous old trees and have to cross some rickety boards. Stay to the left then you come to a divergence of trails and be careful going down as it's quite steep/slippery. Wear good shoes, and use caution. We think this is a short (but steep) hike worth taking as it leads to a gorgeous waterfall and little swimming hole. Shhhhh. This is a locals secret! Make sure to carry out all you carry in and take good care of yourself and the beautiful surroundings.

Sightseeing
Historic Military Academy just across the river. You can visit the visitor's center and west point museum daily or set up a guided tour in advance. Also, the Thayer Hotel is on the grounds and can be visited for lunch in the pub or an extravagant weekend brunch in their restaurant.

必要な持ち物
What to bring
The cabin is well equipped but you should definitely bring sunscreen and bug spray if you plan to get outdoors! Also, I recommend slippers if you like toasty feet.
交通アクセス
No car? Trains and taxi info
If you're traveling up by train, metro north to cold spring is a good plan. If traveling light, I recommend exploring Main Street when you arrive (a 5 min walk from train) and perhaps walk up the the Foodtown to gather provisions before calling an Uber to go to the cabin. There used to be taxis at the train station too but with cover they are now few and far between. If you have no interest in exploring from the train you can also get off at Garrison station (the one prior to cold spring) but it's a smaller station with fewer uber/taxis.

There is a local trolley that goes down Main Street in cold spring has local stops at Boscobel, Constitution Marsh, Manitoba and more! It's only $2. Limited seasonal availability so check online for complete details.

Lakefront Yoga - Small private classes w spectacular views
If you can catch a pop up class at lakefront yoga (10m away at a local lake) you're in for a treat! It's a lovely small home studio (outdoor options in summer) with great yoga and gorgeous views.
