Garden Cafe is a plant-based staple in the heart of Woodstock. Some of the best food around and a delightful space inside and out. If it's warm enough, the back garden is lovely and the indoor space is bright and spacious too. The lasagna is the best!

This is a bit of a trek (about 30 minutes) and it can get pricey when you start adding toppings - but wow, is this pizza good! I've been dreaming about it since we tried it out. They have online ordering and it's great for pick up or they have an outdoor deck that is happening. We tried both the thin crust and grandma style, and it's hard to say which was my favorite! I think I'd get them both again :)

A new spot by the owners of Silvia. Upscale Asian food with a delightful outdoor space. Also a great space to belly up to the bar for fun cocktails and dinner.

Ariel is a bartender here (most weekend nights - stop in and say hi!). They have great cocktails and every menu item is delicious. You cannot go wrong with the burger and fries.

Sightseeing

Such a great place for an easy flat walk and you can bring your dogs. There are three entrances to this newly built Rail Trail and this is the closest. The other two are in Boiceville or Woodstock. If you go to the this one, I recommend walking to the right (toward Boiceville) and you will be closer to nature. If you start at the Boiceville parking lot, you can see great views of the Reservoir.

Really cool outdoor sculpture garden. They are open and doing tours Friday - Monday from 10-5. Some tickets available at the door, but best to book in advance if you can. Also a really special spot to catch live music shows. Take a look at their calendar for a peek at the eclectic performers that might be playing during your stay!

Fun things to do

The Emerson is a really nice spa and offers reasonable day passes that include access to their small fitness center and their great outdoor hot tub (which is really why I go!). There are also steam and sauna options in the locker rooms. The Emerson is also home to the world's largest kaleidoscope!

This is a tip not for the restaurant/inn, but for the wonderful swimming hole behind the Inn! Park in their parking lot, pass by the dumpster - you will see the trail - and you will quickly come to an oasis. Flat rocks to spread out on and a large refreshing swimming spot at the bottom. Well worth the 40 minute drive.

Our friend opened this spot earlier this year and it's such a great place to visit! Not only does she have wonderful homemade herbal skincare delights, but also a big focus on net zero products. It's hard for me to go and not purchase at least one of her cool offerings!

There is a great, relatively short, pretty challenging hike just a couple miles up Peck Road. It's called Ticetyonyk Trail and you will see the brown trailhead sign just past the big white house on Peck. It's usually pretty quiet and the 360 degree views from the top are stunning!

The closest swimming hole that we've found is at the Esopus Creek Fishing Access on Route 28. If you head up Route 28 towards Mt Tremper and Phoenicia, a mile of so after passing the IGA shopping center, you will see a brown DEC sign for the Esopus Creek Fishing Access - on your left. There is a small parking lot. Follow the little trail into the wooded area and walk in. Walk further than you think. Stay to the left (the trail heads off to the right and brings you back to 28) and look for small barely there trails off to the left and down to the creek. If you go far enough in, you will come to THE BEST SPOT with nice big rocks offering flat spaces to lay and climbing for easy access into the water. You will see an old abandoned railway across the creek. You may run into some fisherman, but generally this spot is pretty quiet and you may have it all to yourselves :)
