Fly Fishing: Easy access to the trout-stocked waters of the Watauga River located at the Family Picnic Park. Located outside the gate and across from the Hound Ears Real Estate office.
Hiking Trails: 2 miles of scenic trails with Grandfather Mountain views! Park-like trailhead with picnic tables. Directions from house – Go back down Cherry to Left on Dogwood, then Left on Chestnut. Chestnut turns into Evergreen. Follow Evergreen make a Left onto Parkledge Lane. Parking area at the end near picnic tables. There is a trail map sign at the trailhead. See enclosed map for driving directions.
Fishing Pond: Located outside the gate. Park behind the guard house in the parking spots and walk across the street towards hole #12. Beware of golfers. Best time to go to the pond would be early morning or early evening.

My favorite jogging place
Bass Lake (off hwy 221 south of Blowing Rock) A very easy stroll around the lake with nice views of Moses Cone Manor. You can also veer off on the carriage trails and visit the old apple barn. Terrain is very easy and level. You can get a couple of miles in if you wanted to. Great place to grab a cup of coffee before you get there and take a nice stroll. (The corner market/gas station in Blowing is a great place to get coffee and snacks believe it or not!)

You will come out across the street from the parking lot you started from. (One of my favorites!)
Boone Fork Trail. Access at Julian Price park. This is for when you want a full day adventure. To do the loop it is 4 to 5 miles and you cross different terrain. But you can walk up 1 mile along the creek and turn around too.

Grandfather Vineyard – Off Hwy 105 on the left towards Banner Elk. Nice setting by the river. They have music in the afternoons on the weekends. The wine is good. Bring your own appetizers/picnic lunch. You can also purchase wine & cheese to drink and eat at the Vineyard. If you have to bring the kids, playing in the rocks in the shallow river can keep them occupied for awhile!
