Take the road to tepuke and turn off at poplar lane follow the road up to the end. This is a steep walk up the track challenging but worth it when you get to the top.. views right over Papamoa through to the mount.

Raparapahoe Falls is roughly a 30 minutes' drive away from Tauranga. The road surface is always sealed. From Tauranga head south-east on the SH-2, then in Papamoa slide right onto Te Puke Hwy. In Te Puke turn right onto No 3 Road and follow it for the next 3.4km then turn right onto No 4 Road. The car park, to your left, well signposted is 3.1km away from beginning of the road. There are no facilities there. The track starts from the parking and leads down to the river via a very steep descent. Lots of stars, and the track could be slippery after rain. Take extra care and supervise your kids. Then you reach the river, keep to the right (track goes in both direction, there is a waterhole if you go to the left) and walk another 5-10 minutes until you reach the base of the waterfall with a huge waterhole. Return via the same route. Total walking time is about 1hr, but the way back is much longer due to a long uphill section. The waterfall is a very popular swimming spot!

McLaren Falls Park is 190-hectares of parkland set alongside Lake McLaren and is just 10-minutes by car from Tauranga. The park is popular for camping, fishing, kayaking, its disc golf course, wedding photos, picnics, bush walks and summertime concerts. It is also home to one of the best botanical collections of trees in New Zealand. One of the highlights of the park is the waterfall track where you can see glow worms after dusk. Enjoy a short, easy stroll to the picturesque waterfall and spot the glow worms on either side of the track. Part of the waterfall track is also wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly. Due to sheep throughout the park, dogs are not permitted. Slow vehicle access is available throughout the park for easy access to picnic areas. Gates open for outgoing vehicles after closing time, so you don’t need to be in a hurry to leave: stay and enjoy the glowworms!
