City/town information

Cougar, WA is 1 1/2 hours northeast of Portland and is nestled along Yale Lake & the Swift Reservoir. Population is around 150 people. We are only a short drive from Mt. St. Helen's and all the beauty it has to offer.

Sightseeing

About a 30-minute drive from our home. Wear good shoes and pack some snacks. Really cool spot! There are also other things to see in this area such as Lava Canyon.

One of my favorite hikes! Parts of this hike are good for families with small kids but other parts can be dangerous. Please heed all warnings not the leave the designated trail. There's an awesome suspension bridge incorporated into this hike. A lot to learn and see here.

This is the hike up Mt. St. Helen's. A NW Forest Pass is required for this area and we can let you borrow one while you're here. Please reference the Gifford Pinchot NF website for important information about this area. This area is 30 minutes or so from our home.
