Built by a father to realize his daughter's dream, this three-story castle, completed in 1945, is made of stone, adobe, automobile parts and petroglyphs and is held together by a cement mixture including goat's milk. Take a tour - usually led by the daughter, who still lives there - of this odd, yet imaginative dwelling.

The Orpheum Theater in Phoenix, Arizona, was built for vaudeville in 1929. One of the grandest of the old-time theaters, it was built in a Spanish Revival style of Spanish Baroque architecture style with intricate murals and moldings and a magnificent Peacock Staircase, all meant to give the audience of 1,364 the impression that they were watching a show al fresco, as if sitting in the courtyard of a Spanish villa. Located at 203 West Adams Street in downtown Phoenix, it fell into disrepair and was saved from demolition by a 12-year, $14 million restoration project in the 1980s and 1900s. Today, the theater hosts touring Broadway musicals, performances of the Ballet Arizona, stand-up comedy, family shows, live musical concerts, podcast recordings and other special events. It also conducts tours every other Tuesday at noon and 3 p.m. that allows visitors to hear the playable Wurlitzer organ that still is used for silent films. In 1997, the Orpheum became home of the newly formed Phoenix Opera. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
