Beach
Lauterbourg has the longest sandy beach in Alsace, and turquoise water with many water activities during the Summer months.
You can walk to the beach (900 m) by going directly down the hill to the left when you pass the gates to the guest house. You cross the big road, and follow the small road to the right. A bit longer (maybe +200 m), but nicer alternative is to take right on the small running track after the outdoor gym. You follow the track until you've passed under a small bridge (for the cars on the big road), and turn left. Please note that on the beach itself, dogs are often not allowed (it should be fine in the evenings though). However, there are many other walking-tracks and alternatives for our four-legged friends.

There are a few restaurants in Lauterbourg, see below. There are some other restaurants too, but these are our favourites. ;-)
The closest is called Wald Stübel, and is located just down the hill to the left when you pass through the gates. There is a nice terrace in the Summer, and fair prices. They also offer take away: +33 3 and 88 86 and 53 90. The menu includes Tarte flambée / Flammkuechen, Pizza, Burgers, Galettes / Crepes, as well as steaks, and a variety of typical French dishes

The menu includes typical Alsatian gourmet dishes, like fois gras (goose or duck liver), all kinds of filets, but also fish and vegetarian alternatives.

5 A Rue du MoulinA more fancy restaurant, also with a nice terrace in the Summer. It's usually very popular so we recommend that you order a table in advance at +33 3 and 88 94 and 60 29. The menu includes typical Alsatian gourmet dishes, like fois gras (goose or duck liver), all kinds of filets, but also fish and vegetarian alternatives.
You can order pizzas and tarte flambée for take-away or eat-in: +33 and 3 88 and 63 67 and 12. The pizzeria is located on the right hand side off the main street going through the centre of Lauterbourg, around 150 m after the pharmacy.
