Neighbourhoods

Brixton has a culturally rich mix of communities whose diverse backgrounds have shaped many aspects of local life. The area has strong ties to the Caribbean, with residents also hailing from as far afield as Africa, Southern Asia, South America and continental Europe. In the early 1980s, Brixton was regarded by some as a rundown no-go zone. Fast-forward three decades, from its music scene to its restaurants, you really should add Brixton to your London itinerary. Make sure you try one of the many incredible Caribbean restaurants including Fish Wings and Tings in Brixton Market, Negril or Rum Kitchen for a late-night party atmosphere. It is also worth visiting the Black Cultural Archives, the only national heritage centre dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain. From outside Sainsburys on Westow Hill you can take the bus (number 432 or 322) to Brixton, this will take about 20-30 mins. It is also home to the closest Tube Station should you need an alternative route into central London (15 mins to Oxford Station)

Head for historic Greenwich, an unmissable part of your London adventure. Famed for giving its name to Greenwich Mean Time, Greenwich is where hemispheres meet and is home to a World Heritage Site, The O2 entertainment venue, London’s only cable car and London’s oldest Royal Park. Find Greenwich restaurants, royal heritage, world-class attractions and breathtaking views, all in a beautiful riverside setting. From Greenwich park you can also walk to beautiful Blackheath – just be mindful of the hill! At Greenwich Market make sure you visit our friends The Catford Creative Club. They created the great print of South London in the Living Room and have plenty of other cool prints and artwork representing London, if you want to see more. From Crystal Palace Station take the train to London Bridge, and then from London Bridge to Greenwich (45 mins). Make sure to check tfl.co.uk for regular travel updates.

交通アクセス

Trains and buses are the easiest way to get around

The Flat is a 10-minute walk to Crystal Palace Station. From there, you can travel to central London by train. There are regular trains to London Victoria and London Bridge which take 20-30 mins. At London Bridge make sure to visit The Shard for the best views across London and Borough Market for food, we recommend El Pastor for amazing Tacos and Mexican Food. From Crystal Palace Station you can catch the overground train (the orange line) to Shoreditch High Street Station. Once there, its only a short walk to nearby Brick Lane, Colombia Road Flower Market or Spitalfields Market.
