Favorite for sunsets! This public beach is a favorite place to walk the dog at low tide, or just go at end of the day to unwind. Thankfully it is right up the street from my house and a short drive away. You can make bonfires on this beach! So stay and watch the night sky here also!

Located in our favorite harbor, with amazing views year round, you need to try their mussels (order extra bread as the broth is amazing)! We love everything about the Nor’Easter. Walk upper or lower hadlock pond trails or drive Sargeant sound while in the area. Visit Asticou trails or Thuya gardens also. It’s a beautiful part of MDI.

A local favorite- Follow the trail to the left for shortest hike to the quaint cove, or follow further right to see old foundation of an estate long ago and continue toward Jax and Schooner Head.

A 'must do' for those new to Bar Harbor, complete with pristine Lake, beautiful bridge and carriage trails. great for bikers and joggers or slow walks with the pets and kids. All the way around is a nice long hike!

After this trail, or the Bubbles trail, you MUST try the Jordan Pond House Restaurant Popover Ice Cream Sundae! it's such a treat.

Park by Sand Beach and the entrance is up on loop road, which will traverse many rocks up lower area that turns in to boulders as you reach higher elevation. This trail splits where adventuresome people can turn right to try the Beehive trail, or those with dogs can go straight. When you reach the Bowl, you’ll love the pond nestled on top of mountain with scenic mountains around. Be sure to continue climb to the right and up the right rocky area to the pinnacle for the panoramic views of the ocean! This is also where the beehive train connects back together.

No downtown traffic - this is just up the road from our house. They have an outdoor deck and offer musical entertainment. The mix of bbq is fabulous, and they also have easy take out (perfect for bringing to watch the sunset on Hadley beach). The ice cream shop attached is tremendous! I highly recommend trying their mud flat flavor. And the mini golf is located across the street.

Dog park and public swimming in Pond
Miles and miles of trails! An amazing estate directly across from the ocean, be dog friendly so your well behaved pet can run in the fields and play with other dogs on vacation. The trails go fully around the pond and connect with Acadia, you can hike all the way the Jordan Pond or Asticou from here!

Not only a great loop path through woods and down and around a rocky beach for dogs to burn some energy off leash, but also a great sunset spot.

Located around the corner from our house, there are large fields (used for sledding in winter) and a nature trail that goes all the back thru woods to inlet of water and stream, and then circles back to the parking. well behaved dogs can be off leash the entire time. Please pick up after your pets - pack poop bags!
