The Parish of Illogan is situated between the towns of Camborne and Redruth with Pool to the South and the dramatic Cornish Coast to the North.
The architecture of the area is that of traditional mining cottages through to modern dwellings, with St Illogan Church at its Heart dated to 1235.
The Parish has a variety of shops, takeaways and amenities. There are also 4 major supermarkets between 5-10 minutes away.
The area has a network of footpaths with highlights being at Tehidy Woods and from Illogan Churchtown, down through Illogan Woods to the coast and Harbour Town of Portreath.
There is easy access to the arterial A30, the quickest route to many other attractions.
For Poldark fans! Illogan was the town that Demelza was from.

Godrevy (National Trust Owned) is an expanse of sandy beach which leads onto wildlife rich headlands and coves of North Cliffs and western Hills.
Set at the far end of St Ives Bay, Godrevy beach is popular for surfers, families, walkers nature watchers and those who simply want to sit and admire the view.
If you speak to the National Trust staff they will point you in the direction of the seal colony.

It is a traditional Cornish harbour now home to a handful of mainly Crabbing vessels.
The village extends along both sides of a stream valley and is centred on the harbour and beach.

Surfing
This area of Cornwall is renowned for its quality beaches and surfing. With Porthtowan, Portreath and Gwithian from 5 to 15 minutes drive away you are spoilt for choice.

The Mineral Tramways Cycle Trails
The rich mining area of Cornwalls central mining district benefits from 37.5 miles (60km) network of multi activity trails. Many of the trails closely follow the tramway and railway routes once used to transport ore and vital supplies to and from the many tin and copper mines in the area to ports such as Devoran and Portreath.

Have you got a car?
If you stay at 2 Merritts Hill, I would suggest you need a car to get around.
There is public transport but this is slow and irregular.
You may want to look at another area if you do not have your own transport.

St Ives
If you want to visit St Ives in peak season I would advise getting there early in the day.
If you choose not to take a car, you can park in Redruth and get the train. You can also join the train at the park and ride in St Erth.
This is a picturesque branch line and avoids the parking chaos of the summer, taking you into the heart of the town.

A30
We have easy access to the A30 which is a couple of minutes away. This is the main arterial road through Cornwall and gives access to the majority of attractions in West Cornwall.
