Neighborhoods

We're in the quieter side of Valletta, but at the same time right at the centre of it all. The European Parliament office and the University of Malta Valletta Campus are a 1 minute walk away; the National Library "Biblioteca Nazzjonali" too; all major sites including the Grandmaster's Palace & Armoury, Saint John's Co-Cathedral, Fort Saint Elmo, MUZA (national art museum), the Archeology Museum, the Manoel Theatre are all within a 5-10 minute walking distance. Valletta itself is like an open air museum as you walk about and take in the architecture, Maltese stone and stonework (globigerina limestone), traditional Maltese balconies, coloured doors and balconies, the multitude of churches all with hidden gems to discover, musical events, the many cafeterias, bars and restaurants, and we're right at the centre of it all.

Get the ferry (a 2 minute walk from the apartment - down the road from Victoria Gate) across Grand Harbour to visit Birgu and the cities nearby - the first place the Knights settled in on their arrival in Malta. You can walk around the streets of Birgu and visit the Inquisitor's Palace and the Church of Saint Lawrence; walking along the Marina is the Maritime Museum and passing over the little bridge you will reach the entrance to Forst Saint Angelo which is open to visitors too - at specific hours one may also opt for a guided visit of the upper part of the Fort which is cared for by the Knights of Saint John.

Gozo is the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago. If using public transport you can get the bus to Cirkewwa and from there the ferry across to Gozo. There is also a hop-on hop-off option you could look into. In Gozo visit Rabat (the Basilica of Saint George) & Cittadella, the Ta' Pinu Sanctuary, Ggantija temples. Stop for a photo of Ramla l-Hamra at Calypso's Cave and in Dwejra where the famous Azure Window stood - you will still be able to see the Inland Sea and get a boat ride from here- and the Fungus Rock. If you have a rented car you should also pop down to see the salt-pans past Marsalforn.

Taxi and car hire

We propose a trusted taxi service for arrivals/departures. We know that this way the driver will stop you at/pick you up from the correct address & help you out as needed with luggage, entering the property or closing. From experience this may not be the case if you get a taxi on your own account. If you wish to rent a car this will give you the possibility to move around freely without public transport time table restrictions. Keep in mind that parking in Valletta is very limited for non-residents & is charged between 7am and 7pm. Parking outside Victoria Gate along Barriera Wharf is free.
