The African Elephant Restaurant opened in February 2014, and was inspired by the need to have a place in which to relax with a plate of good South African food, stunning views, a glass of wine, and friendly service. All of these great features are offered at a reasonable price at the African Elephant. Breakfast is served between 08h30 and 11h00, and the breakfast menu includes a number of popular favourites (such as traditional bacon and eggs, French toast, or muesli and yoghurt) for hungry risers, best enjoyed with a steaming cup of coffee. Later in the day, the menu offers a variety of snack baskets and light meals for the ideal noon bite. These comprise a combination of savoury pancakes, a range of burgers, salads, and toasted sandwiches. In the evenings, hearty dinners include grilled springbok, beef fillet skewer, chicken schnitzel, mutton curry, ostrich fillet with creamy mashed potatoes, fish, calamari, prawns, oxtail, eisbein, pork ribs and the A-grade beef rump, sirloin and fillet. The homemade potato chips are always a big hit.

Browse the Shoppe, browse the Internet or browse the yummy menu! The highly recommended Wild Fig Tree Restaurant & Coffee Shop in Sabie also features an Internet Cafe and Curio Shop. Very convenient for picking up last minute gifts to take home with you after enjoying a leisurely meal in the restaurant. The Wild Fig Tree offers good home-style cooking. For a hearty lunch, go meaty - they do a great line in rump, fillet and venison, including the more unusual grilled medallions of warthog and pan-fried crocodile. They also serve excellent seafood dishes - look out for the wild trout!

Sabie Brewing Company. Situated on the main road of the town, in a charming heritage building, this brewery and restaurant is open seven days a week. Those who know their beers will, no doubt, enjoy sampling the six hand-crafted ones that are produced here. These are: • Glynn's Gold – based on a London Ale, this is easy to savour and offers the ideal balance of hops and malted barley. • Long Tom Lager – a slow-condition beer that boasts a robust malt taste and a hoppy smell. • Shangaan Stout – smooth, rich and creamy with a chocolatey after-taste. • Dravidian Draught – influenced by the pale ales brought to South Africa by the British after they colonised India, this is a particularly hoppy ale with plenty of flavour. • Wheelbarrow Weiss – this is a light, effervescent ale that is best enjoyed with a slice of fresh lemon. • Cockney Liz – also known as the ‘wild card’, this batch is all about giving the brewer free reign to surprise beer enthusiasts that enjoy spontaneity. The menu is diverse enough to cater to all palates and preferences. Starters include spicy chorizo and potato croquettes, chicken livers on bruschetta, chicken satay, and deep-fried halloumi. Main courses comprise salads, toasted sandwiches, a meat platter and a cheese platter. In addition, there are firm favourites; like the beef and ale pie, gourmet burgers, lamb curry, fish and chips, eisbein, vegetable pasta, and pan-fried trout fillet with caper-lemon butter. The original wood features, corrugated iron roof over the outside area, and exposed wooden trusses create a fabulous ambience in which to enjoy such fine flavours. Tours of the brewery can be arranged for four people or more. There are also beer tasting platters that offer patrons a 100ml-sample of each of the beers. The Sabie Brewing Company can be hired for special events and celebrations, as well as for corporate functions.

A one-stop adventure and teambuilding centre, with more than 14 activities and packages to choose from Induna Adventures strives to give each person a life-changing experience. All our adventures are led by professional guides. Situated just outside Hazyview in the Sabie River valley, our adventure centre forms part of the Panorama Route linking world-famous sites like God’s Window and Bourke’s Potholes with the Kruger National Park. Enjoy the spectacular scenery and the rush of rapids when white-water rafting on the lower Sabie River. We use 2-man inflatable ‘croc rafts’. Life jackets, helmets and all safety equipment are provided. Group sizes vary; up to a maximum of 40 people (larger groups can be accommodated by arrangement). Children are welcome, depending on the water level, so grab the opportunity to get close to the many bird species of the riverine area. The Sabie River provides 20 rapids (grade 2/3) as well as scenic vegetation. This 8 km route is yielding to the novice, yet accommodating to the thrill seeker within all of us. Enjoy swimming, bum-sliding and wave surfing on a boogie board at ‘Lions Rock’. Bring a camera if you wish, but we provide a photographic service as it is hard to take a picture of yourself while you paddle. Half-day/2.5 hrs; cold drinks and snacks included. Some activities, like white water rafting, geckoing and horse trails depart twice daily at scheduled times; others have flexible departure times. We also offer tailor-made packages for corporate teambuilding, incentive breakaways and school groups, so let us help you plan your next event. We also offer: Quad Biking, abseiling, mountain boarding and zip line. “It is our purpose and passion to show everybody that it is possible to experience and live life to the fullest.”

Wildlife Rehabilitation

The Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre was established in 1991. A businessman from Pretoria in South Africa, Mr Strijdom, owns the farm on which the Centre is situated, and he in turn asked Brian Jones to establish and run the rehabilitation centre for him. Brian already had a Crowned Eagle in his possession and his reputation for the work he did with wild animals had spread rapidly. Brian Jones has been helping and caring for injured and orphaned animals from the age of four and thus he brought a great deal of knowledge and experience to the establishment of this rehabilitation centre Very soon a variety of animals were being brought to him that were either orphaned, injured or poisoned and in need of help. The plight of Africa’s animals and our natural system has always been the main concern at Moholoholo and the philosophy is that awareness must be spread if we are to save our wildlife. With Mr Strijdom’s dedicated support the Centre has expanded tremendously over the years and as a result Brian has, on numerous occasions, been invited to give talks all over the country and in various states in the USA to spread the message and inform people of the predicament our wildlife faces today

Paul Kruger Gate is regarded as the quickest way to reach Skukuza, and one of only three gates into the west region of southern Kruger National Park. It also allows good access to Lower Sabie. As a result, the gate sees a fair amount of traffic. The Skukuza Rest Camp lies 12 km from the gate. But watch your speed limit – 40 km an hour - as the H11 is probably the one place in the park where you're most likely to get caught speeding. You will want to slow in any case as the thorn thickets along the banks of the Sabie are renowned for spotting bigger predators. Skukuza lies in the heart of Big Five country. Which makes it popular. It is also one of the largest camps in Kruger with a lot of Kruger Park accommodation options, and the Skukuza golf course. Bush walks and drives in the area are rewarding, but possibly the best route to follow when on self-drive is the drive between Skukuza and Lower Sabie along the wooded banks of the Sabie. Game: lion, black wildebeest, gemsbok, buffalo, black rhino, warthog, spotted hyena, thick-tailed bush baby, and purple crested lourie.

When entering from Hoedspruit- Orpen gate is 70 kilometers. If you want quick access to the central Kruger National Park, then Orpen Gate entrance is your best bet. The central grasslands of the Kruger National Park mean that there is a predominance of herbivores and animals like buffalo, who herd in groups of up to 250, near Orpen.
