This is nice little park about ten minutes up the road in Blanchard, Louisiana with miles of forested hiking trails and a visitor center with exhibits and live animals. The park hasn’t been kept up to its fullest potential in the most recent years, but if you want to get out of the house for an afternoon it’s worth the trip. Located at 8012 Blanchard Furrh Road.

Great local brewery that originated in Shreveport and has distribution through multiple states. The tasting room is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4-9pm and Saturdays 12-9pm. If you are looking for something off of Diners, Driveins, & Dives check out Strawn’s for breakfast or lunch. The ice-box pies have been featured in Southern Living multiple times. They have multiple locations but we recommend the original location at 125 Kings Highway in Shreveport.

The restaurant is about a ten minute car drive or you can ride over on your boat. The address is 5301 South Lakeshore Drive.

On Airline Drive, there are many stores including an Academy, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Kroger Marketplace, Old Navy and Bed Bath & Beyond. If you head this way, a good restaurant to checkout is Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, a family-friendly sports bar/restaurant that originated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Walk-On’s is located at 3010 Airline Drive.

Take Route Along I-220
When traveling out and about we recommend using the routes that take you along Interstate I-220. When searching for places, this might seem like the longer route. Please keep in mind, it is a much safer drive especially during the evening hours.
