Great coffee shop, hang out and watch the locals, close to Peter and Paul Hotel, great breakfast place: early bird special eggs & bacon or the entirely delicious crabby beignet, pancakes. Very New Orleans funk.

Absolutely amazing Chinese food, specializing in bao and noodles, all home made but lots of specials. Doug is a genius cook. It looks like a hole in the wall but it is very good food.

Sightseeing

On St. Claude across from St. Roch Market. Well-- there's a voodoo shop run by our own voodoo priestess, and lots of amazing altars. There's the food coop where you can shop with the locals. There's a barber shop, yoga studio, healing massages, and the great Cafe Istanbul which has lots of local musical, theater and serious political discussions. Check it out.

Necessities

This is a short walk from the place, and you can pick up any food you need, including the weirdest unlikely food you can imagine. Also mardi gras costumes and God knows what else. It's unique and local.

交通アクセス

Getting Around

Walking is great, easy to walk to the French Quarter, or up to Frenchmen or St. Claude or down into the Bywater. At Royal and St. Ferdinand you can catch the number 5 bus. Or you can rent a bike at Homer Plessy (aka Press Street) nearby. And take a look at the Plessy-Ferguson historical marker right there as well as the cool mural. Streetcar is on St. Claude terminating at St. Claude and Elysian Fields near the Walgreen's.

Be nice

People in New Orleans are friendly. It's okay to say hello to people on the street. It is helpful to be very courteous polite and nice but you'll pick up on that quickly.
