Bettyhill is our local village, full of friendly faces. As well as Farr bay. which is very close to our hearts, being the location we married.
In August the golden sandy beach hosts the gala's sandcastles competition, on the east side of the bay there are plentiful of formations for rock pooling, as well as being a fabulous place to walk. It really is worth a visit.
Especially since on a nice day you can then stop for a mr whippy style ice cream at the Bettyhill general merchant's shop complete with a flake, where you will also find the local fuel pumps.
There are also cafes, and restaurants if you are looking to dine out on the village.
Also including Strathnaver Museum, where you can learn about the dramatic history of the local area, from the clearances to crofting life.

Also not far from the woodland walk and still part of the Borgie wood is 'The Unknown' a relatively easy going uphill walk with a stunning view across the hill tops, with A surprise sculpture at the top and picnic benches for a wee snack break.

Although we also recommend an elastic waistband because not only is it great food, there is definitely plenty to go around. HUGE portions.
