My favorite things

The little routines I enjoy in Nashville.
I love hiking at Percy Warner. The trails are gorgeous, and of varying length and difficulty. After my hike, pop in to Fix Juice Co. for a Cashew Milk, and have an infrared sweat (and/or a float!) at Pure Sweat and Float next door. Percy Warner Park (in Belle Meade) was constructed in 1936 and paid for as a part of FDR's New Deal. While the stairs are closed for maintenance, there will be detour access to the trails at Percy Warner (access at Belle Meade Boulevard.) For racing fans, you'll be tickled to know that Steeplechase (located within the park) remains the ONLY racetrack built by the Federal government.

This 95-year-old theater that was once home to the Grand Ole Opry... IN 1934! I make it a point to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show here every year- RHPC Virgins welcome. (Insider tip: This winter, the Belcourt has Noir-Fest 3 running from New Years' Day to the middle of February, in addition to some other incredible presentations, check it out - http://www.belcourt.org/events/noir-fest-3.3872918.)

Even if you're just browsing, I love popping into this place just to have a look around. No matter what the day, I promise there will be something eye opening!

Food Scene

Most of these are close to my place, others are worth the (15 min) trip.
How about smoked fish directly imported from Brooklyn, N.Y? If that doesn't sound like a big deal to you... obviously you've never experienced lox in the Big Apple. Authentic whitefish salad aside, with all-day breakfast sandwiches and even bialys made in house, it will be worth your trip. (Don't worry, even the interior alone will be a boost for your Instagram.)

A neighborhood staple. Go as early as you can to skip the line (weekdays are best, but on Sunday morning at 7 you'll be okay. It's worth it!)

Downtown

The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is a jewel in Nashville's crown. Gorgeous architecture, and imagery symbolic of Nashville throughout. There are tours during the daytime... but make sure you check out a presentation by the Nashville Symphony in the evening!! Insider tip: third floor balcony has a neat view of Broadway. Grab a glass of wine and admire the lights.

A short walk from Broadway, Pinewood has a great bar, bowling alley, a little swimming pool or two, and a sweet outdoor area. Great drinks, great coffee, and an array of delicious food.
