Red light district is where the sailers used to 'blow of steam' after a long journey at sea surrounded by men for months... Looking for som love and affection and .......... they would roam the streets of Amsterdam and especially the red light district. The last years the city council is trying to change the identity of this area by closing down the prostitution windows and installing art galleries and restaurants. Best time to visit is after nightfall. Lots of bars and restaurants and coffeeshops nearby...
