This is my favorite non-commercial cinema in Freiburg! It offers a great international feature and documentary film program. There is also a Kinder Kino program in case you have children. And their cafe atmosphere (good coffee, cake and a great taste in music) is very lovely. They have an indoor and outdoor sitting area, as well as a gallery space. The Wiehre farmer’s market takes place on the cinema grounds, so make sure to grab some fresh veggies there :)

Very cozy place where you’ll surely get something going for you taste buds. Now owned by the chef, they are sure to give you good recommendations on what to eat. Good beer! Make sure to go when there’s a DJ playing live on that tight space next to the window :) always good music!

Best beer in town! Freshly brewed. Great food. They offer refills for 2-5 Liter glass bottles, incase you‘re going to a party and don‘t want to get there empty handed. Warning: very full on weekends.

This is the perfect place to go to after a hike in the forest! I suggest having a hike in the hills surrounding Günterstal, then rewarding yourself with the best roasted coffee in town and French pastry. They are the same roasters who make coffee for Café Marcel in the city park (Stadtgarten), so the quality is really good. Like a lot of things in Freiburg: Bio and fair trade :)

Sightseeing
Take a walk up the hill, just a couple of hundred meters from my apartment, to the Schlossberg to catch a great view of Freiburg. Up there there’s a restaurant, and a beer garden.
Another recommendation would be to walk to the Stadtgarten (city park), have good coffee and bakery at café Marcel, after your trip to the Schlossberg as a reward for climbing up the steep steps :)

Explore Freiburg through the bicycle highway!
Getting around with the bike is the easiest and fastest way to see the city. Faster than traveling with the S-Bahn! Rent a bike from the VAG, Donkey Republic or Rad Station to explore Freiburg by taking the „Bike Highway“ or „Freiburg Radnetz“.
