Its foundation stone was laid in 1972 and the Museum was made accessible for public in 1991. The presented settlement disposition was characteristic in numerous Liptov villages having privileges and rights of smaller towns. The houses come from several Liptov villages, mainly from the area now flooded with water of Liptovská Mara dam. In fact they are copies of original buildings with numerous original elements.
