Delicious local coffee shop that roasts their own coffee. It is about a 4 minute drive from our home. My drink of choice is an iced mocha breve with one pump vanilla and yes, I am a coffee snob:)

The RAD is host to over 200 Artist's Studios. If this sounds overwhelming we'd highly recommend Asheville Art Studio Tours. We love that their tours are artist led and that they introduce you to the RAD in an intimate way. They also offer Experience Tours if you are interested in not only appreciating great art but making it.

Blue Ridge Parkway - Hikes and Scenic Overlooks
This hike offers the most breathtaking views of any hikes we've tried. It took us about 1 hour up to the knob where all the views are. Make sure you bring rain gear as rain is a common occurrence here.

This hike is just under 30 min drive from our home and has stunning stone steps, ancient trees and a 360 degree viewpoint. It takes our family about 30 minutes to hike up to the top.

This is one of the most photographed places along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The hike is really beautiful too. It is a 2 hours drive from our home...if it were closer we'd probably hike it often. Giant boulders, small streams, and epic long range views make this a very memorable spot.

It is a 2 hours drive from our home...if it were closer we'd probably hike it often. Giant boulders, small streams, and epic long range views make this a very memorable spot.
This State Park is a bit expensive but the views are quite spectacular and the wildlife habitats are fun to see.
