Parks and Nature
The volunteers in period clothing are well versed in their work. Working with the old tools of the time and repairing just as one would have in the day. Very knowledgeable and able to educate on every aspect of life on a home place in the 1850's.
Great place to teach kids how things were back then. Perfect for the whole family. Pets are allowed but must be leashed. Last ticket sold at 4pm.
Right across the highway from the farm is a large herd of bison..

There is also an interpretive hiking tour.

120 Lock D RoadPerfect for a historic picnic! The Cumberland River is beautiful and you can do the scenic self guided tour by stopping at numbered stops and call on your cell phone for information. There is a picnic area just beyond stop 3 complete with restroom facility.
There is also an interpretive hiking tour.
Pair of eagles nest here every year.

The trail around the lake is amazing! It is around 2 miles and it is mostly flat and very well maintained. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The boardwalk is such a unique feature to this trail. Being able to walk over the water is such a nice change of pace. There is a nice parking area at the trailhead with picnic tables and a restroom. The trail is conveniently located near the nature station, elk and bison range, and the planetarium...basically an all day outdoor adventure.
