From its rocky coastline and panoramic views to lush trails and an agricultural heritage as rich at its soil, Hog Bay is a parkland oasis with a little something for everyone. Stroll along shaded paths past woodlands, agricultural fields, an ancient lime kiln and abandoned cottages at Hog Bay Park. This 32-acre open space offers the chance to see a side of Bermuda largely untouched by modern development. The scenic, rural countryside was once three private estates; now it’s home to a network of trails prime for birdwatching. One highlight of the park is the steep coastal hillside that slopes down to Brown's Bay, along the westernmost shoreline of Bermuda. The main trail ends at a small beach, but check the tides beforehand, as the beach is submerged during high tide.

The nature reserve is named after Sharon Vesey - A Bermudian lady who donated this 8-acre land area in 2009 to a joint initiative of Bermuda National Trust and the Bermuda Audubon Society in order to save this land from commercial development. As you enter the main trail of the reserve, it slopes down and then an offshoot trail veers right towards the western end of Evans Pond. You can find many different species of herons and egrets roosting at the pond area and numerous wood warblers feeding in the mangroves. There is an wooden boardwalk accessible from the main trail which leads to the deep quarries. There is also an observation platform and you get sweeping view of Little Sound from here.

Located at the western end of Southampton Parish, West Whale Beach offers a calm, scenic escape with craggy cliffs surrounding a stretch of Bermuda’s classic pink sand. The beach got its name as it was near the island’s whaling grounds in the 18th century. Happily, whaling is long gone from these shores – but the whales themselves are still drawn to Bermuda each spring. West Whale Bay Beach’s shallow waters make it a good option for younger kids to splash about in the gentle surf, and during low tide, you can wade out to discover colourful coral reefs teeming with marine life. It is also prized for its shore fishing: bring a rod and reel and you might land bonefish, pompano and great barracuda.

This family run business has been in operation for over thirty years – since 1980. Time flies by when you’re having fun! Many water sport operators have come and gone but we are still here. I hope that means we are doing something right. When we go on vacation we expect to have a good time. In turn, we do our utmost to ensure our guests have a memorable time with us in Bermuda. I am fortunate with the young men and women that have worked alongside me and continue to work alongside me. They have all obtained their University degrees and are following their dreams, from airline pilots to day traders.

Don’t miss Bermuda’s most famous stretch of sand at Horseshoe Bay Beach. The wide crescent of light-pink sand is not only scenic, but also has everything you need for a great day at the beach – crystal-clear water, lifeguards, easy access by public transportation and rentals of everything from towels and beach loungers to snorkelling gear and boogie boards. Horseshoe Bay Beach is also a popular venue for local events throughout the year. You can find Horseshoe Bay at the heart of South Shore Park, where a coastal trail connects it with other picturesque beaches to the east and west.

Play a round on the recently renovated Port Royal Golf Course, with its lush TifEagle greens, cutting-edge irrigation system and sweeping water views from nearly every hole. Original design team member Robert Rulewich spearheaded the $14.5 million makeover ahead of the 2009/2010 PGA Grand Slam of Golf (the first of five consecutive years the event was held at Port Royal). The signature 16th hole is considered one of the premier par-3 holes in golf, offering a clear shot across the ocean to the green, which is perched on a coastal peninsula. Port Royal Golf Course also has a driving range with ocean views and practice distances for golfers of all levels.

Order the famous Mr. Chicken fillet sandwich or the equally delicious fish sandwich (try it on raisin bread) at this Bermudian fast-food chain with locations in Sandys, Southampton, Devonshire and the City of Hamilton. Chicken is the specialty, of course, but the menu also offers burgers, shrimp and Philly cheesesteaks along with traditional Bermy dishes like peas and rice and Sunday morning codfish breakfasts at the Hamilton location.

交通アクセス

Transportation

I personally recommend renting a mini car or a taxi for transportation needs. Motorcycle travel is the best way to fly and we have motorcycle rentals, but if you are not an experienced rider I cant, in good conscious, tell you do it...Ive seen to many accidents. Busses are fine but not my style because they sometimes break down, get to crowded, and if you are traveling to St.Georges, requires transfers. However they are the most affordable method of transportation so if you must I would just suggest being strategic. For example, if you are already in Dockyard and you want to see the City (Hamilton) check the Ferry schedule and travel on the water in style. Bus rides between Dockyard--Hamilton are pretty straight forward but going further than that gets a little inconvenient. If you want to catch a bus to Hamilton then ferry to St.Georges after that you can as well. Both modes of transportation (bus & ferry) use the same tickets so you might as well pick the mode that is most enjoyable. Use the bus sparingly

Always Speak (say hello/goodbye, good morning/afternoon/evening)

Always speak and do not avoid eye contact, even if a person looks shady. Acknowledging someones existence and being polite is a key aspect of Bermudian culture. Not doing so could make someone think that you are rude and arrogant.

PLAN PLAN PLAN, more things to do

https://www.gotobermuda.com/ The things I have highlighted in the guide book are all local, meaning within a 10-15 walk or bus ride. If you want to take it further than this site is definitely one of the best tourism guides that you can use to plan a day. . However if you aren't an online savvy person there are plenty of tourist hubs, 2 a stones throw away from where we are, that can offer advice on what there is to see.
