A Taste of Tarrytown

Sightseeing

These trails are located a couple of miles away in Sleepy Hollow. Perfect for wandering on paths through the trees. "The Preserve is primarily hardwood forest dominated by huge oak, tulip poplar, maple, and beech trees. The forests, fields, streams, and wetlands support a high diversity of native species of resident and migratory birds, mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, fish and aquatic species, some of which are in decline and now uncommon in Westchester County. With 202 recorded species of birds and its Important Bird Area designation by the National Audubon Society, the Preserve is a must-visit area for birders. Over 100 species of native wild bees frequent spring and summer wildflowers. In the fall, Monarch butterflies stop to feed and lay eggs during their southward migration. An on-going environmental stewardship is underway to favor native biological diversity."

Designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis, its architectural brilliance is complemented by the park-like landscape of the estate and a comprehensive collection of original decorative arts. Its noteworthy occupants included: former New York City mayor William Paulding, merchant George Merritt, and railroad tycoon Jay Gould." Tours available. Google for more info.

Google to find out what's playing and to purchase tickets. "The Music Hall, in Tarrytown, New York, United States, is located on West Main Street downtown. It is a brick structure in the Queen Anne architectural style erected in the late 19th century. In 1980 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places."

A guest recommended this place (thanks, Vanessa :). It's a little more than 4 miles away, over the bridge in Nyack. I have not been, yet, but it looks like a great place to check out.

This is a romantic restaurant with delicious American/Italian bistro. It’s a little pricey but worth it for the service, ambiance and food quality.

A fun, casual place with delicious sangrias and Mexican favorites. Seating can be tough when they’re busy, and the tables outside are lopsided, so hold onto those drinks.
