Grad Strmol

A nice place to visit with a beautiful cafe and playground for kids. The Strmol Castle received the prestigious award “Unique Castle of the Year 2018” recognized by the specialized travel magazine Travel & Hospitality from London. Strmol Castle is one of the only two Slovenian castles with original equipment. The last private possessor of Strmol Castle, Rado Hribar, was an industrialist, cosmopolitan, art lover and one of the richest men of his time in our country. He and his wife Ksenija gave the mansion its present appearance. Here they created a place for social gatherings of eminent Slovenian and European nobles of that time. With their sophisticated, cosmopolitan taste, they decorated the castle over the years with a rich collection of artworks and objects of exceptional value, which are still on display today.

The most visited tourist spot in Preddvor is Lake Crnava, which reflects on its blue-green surface all the surrounding beauty. In the shelter of many trees, you can refresh your mind and fill the body with energy, because the beautiful calm nature offers you a relaxed walk around the lake. Along the Castle of Hrib, along the Črnava lake, the autumn promenade, known as the newlyweds of the newlyweds, is growing, and the walk through it gives you 50 years of loyalty and love. Preddvor, the courtyard of peaceful nature, lies between the four castles. At the lake there is already mentioned the castle of Hrib, and in the vicinity of it there is a mirror in the distance near the village Potoče grad Turn, once inhabited by our first poet, writer and composer Josipina Urbančič Turnograjska. Today, it offers shelter and stay to the elderly inhabitants of nearby and further surroundings. If we take a walk on the path to St. To Jakob, to the left of it on the hill, we find the ruins of the Least Castle. Many of the park's trails lead visitors past buildings from various historical times. Brdo Wins the European Luxury Estate of the Year Title 2019. Today Brdo Estate is one of the most popular slovenian meetings venue and a relaxed getaway for nature lovers and those who appreciate the services at the highest level. The Brdo Estate is famous for its rich history of more than 500 years. Its original owners date back to the 15th century. The renaissance Brdo Castle is situated in the hart of the estate. It was the home of numerous noble families over the centuries. In more recent history, the estate served as one of the favourite residences of Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito. In the last 25 years, the 500-hectare estate is administered by the Protocol Office of the Republic of Slovenia, and is the main venue for the state’s diplomatic events, such us visits by Queen Elizabeth II. and Pope John Paul II. and first meeting of the American president George W. Bush and the Russian president Vladimir Putin. The Brdo Castle is renaissance chateau, built in 16th Century. It is characterized by four dominant corner towers and it presented as home for many prominent people of previous times. A lot of notable aristocratic families lived here, among which Zois Familiy was particularly important. Later on, Brdo Castle was home to Serbian royal family Karađorđević and after Second World War, to that-time Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito. Today, Brdo Castle is the most important diplomatic protocol building in Republic of Slovenia. Through its history, it hosted presidents, kings, and diplomats from all over the world. Brdo Park is a part of the Brdo Estate as well. With its forests and pleasant meadows it serves as an excellent place to relax in the nature. Lakes, walking paths and meadows are hidden between avenues and are completely displaced from everyday bustle.
