Without doubt Krvavec is one of Slovenia’s best resorts. Its immediacy to Ljubljana airport makes it the closest ski resort to an international airport in the world. Reached by gondola from the valley floor, Krvavec has a range of slopes to suit all abilities. Artifical snow-making and a top altitude of just less than 2000 m allow for a very good snow record and a season that usually runs from mid-December to late April. Continual improvement to lift and resort infrastructure has meant reduced queuing times over recent years. Skiing Krvavec is an extremely enjoyable experience, with beautiful views of the Julian Alps and across the hills south to Ljubljana and beyond. In years of good snowfall the off-piste potential is good, with several off-piste forest areas to explore.

A nice place to visit with a beautiful cafe and playground for kids. The Strmol Castle received the prestigious award “Unique Castle of the Year 2018” recognized by the specialized travel magazine Travel & Hospitality from London. Strmol Castle is one of the only two Slovenian castles with original equipment. The last private possessor of Strmol Castle, Rado Hribar, was an industrialist, cosmopolitan, art lover and one of the richest men of his time in our country. He and his wife Ksenija gave the mansion its present appearance. Here they created a place for social gatherings of eminent Slovenian and European nobles of that time. With their sophisticated, cosmopolitan taste, they decorated the castle over the years with a rich collection of artworks and objects of exceptional value, which are still on display today.

The most visited tourist spot in Preddvor is Lake Crnava, which reflects on its blue-green surface all the surrounding beauty. In the shelter of many trees, you can refresh your mind and fill the body with energy, because the beautiful calm nature offers you a relaxed walk around the lake. Along the Castle of Hrib, along the Črnava lake, the autumn promenade, known as the newlyweds of the newlyweds, is growing, and the walk through it gives you 50 years of loyalty and love. Preddvor, the courtyard of peaceful nature, lies between the four castles. At the lake there is already mentioned the castle of Hrib, and in the vicinity of it there is a mirror in the distance near the village Potoče grad Turn, once inhabited by our first poet, writer and composer Josipina Urbančič Turnograjska. Today, it offers shelter and stay to the elderly inhabitants of nearby and further surroundings. If we take a walk on the path to St. To Jakob, to the left of it on the hill, we find the ruins of the Least Castle. In the midst of the municipal core lies the castle of Preddvor just next to the parish church of St. Peter. https://www.thinkslovenia.com/sights-attractions/preddvor

Not far from Lake Bled there is a gorge which, because of its exceptional beauty, was attracting tourists as early as in the 19th century. Wooden bridges and viewing galleries lead you down the 1.6 km long gorge among waterfalls, pools, and cascades. A stone, single-arch, former railway bridge also towers above the gorge. The Bled's Vintgar leaves an impression on every visitor. Its steep depths, vertical walls, rapid river beneath, vegetation and the largest waterfall in Slovenia are all intended to impress.

25 Km from our home is Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital and largest city. It's known for its university population and green spaces, including expansive Tivoli Park. The curving Ljubljanica River, lined in outdoor cafes, divides the city's old town from its commercial hub. Ljubljana has many museums, including the National Museum of Slovenia, displaying historic exhibitions, and the Museum of Modern Art, home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures. it’s been named as Europe’s Green Capital, and there are year-round festivities to celebrate – here’s every reason you need to explore Ljubljana.. 1: It’s set in a romantic fairytale setting It really is. The first thing you see as you approach is the sort of dreamy castle you used to read about as a kid. The funicular ride up is all part of the fun, as are the sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. 2: It was named Europe's Green Capital European Green Capital of 2016. Green living has always been important here with the core almost entirely pedestrian. 3: It's home to world-class cuisine Ljubljana offers remarkable cuisine, at the heart of which is superb fresh local produce and underpinning it are eclectic dishes with influence from across Slovenia and also neighbouring countries such as Austria, Italy and Hungary. The country’s wine is stellar these days too and the city also boasts its own large brewery (Union) as well as craft breweries. Italians come here on foodie trips, which says it all. 4: It's a capital full of culture Ljubljana is a deeply cultural city where history is revered and art hailed. The grand National Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art are essential stops on any visit. I also thoroughly recommend delving into the City Museum where you can come face to face with the remnants of the city’s Roman past as the city of Emona. 5: There are festivities all year round The Slovenian capital is at the heart of the country’s events and festivals scene. A range of eclectic extravaganzas ripple through the year from film festivals through to the famed Christmas Markets. 6: There's plenty to shop around Couples craving authentic shopping experiences will be in heaven in Ljubljana. If you prefer wee boutiques and independent stores then you can lose a morning or afternoon drifting through the romantic streets of the old town browsing through the eye-catching displays.

Škofja Loka is the best-preserved medieval town in Slovenia. Narrow streets, charming buildings, and a castle surrounded by hills and forest, create the fairytale-like appearance of the town. Škofja Loka gained city rights in 1274, and with that, became a vibrant craftsman and economic center of the region. After a devastating earthquake in 1511 that damaged nearly every building in town, Škofja Loka was successfully renovated and has not changed in appearance since. This preservation presents travelers with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to step back in time.
