The park has minimal parking and going through the entrance can take awhile, but anytime you go it will be well worth the trip.
Hurricane Ridge is open year round offering great hiking trails in the summer and skiing, snow shoeing and even inner-tubing in the winter.
We highly recommend the ranger hikes that are offered in the summer. It's about a one and a half mile guided walk that lasts about an hour. Great info about the area, wildlife and its FREE! Lookout for those Olympic Marmots!
It's also an incredible place for star-gazing! Join a Master Observer at Hurricane Ridge for an evening of astronomy and star-gazing. On a clear night, visitors will be able to gaze on thousands of stars, as well as galaxies, constellations, nebulae, and planets. They even have telescopes to use and it's FREE!

A quick stop on the way out to Lake Crescent or the coast, Madison Falls is wonderful. Just an easy walk, maybe only a couple of hundred yards from the parking lot, to the falls. Great photo stop.

1930 Olympic Hot Springs RdA quick stop on the way out to Lake Crescent or the coast, Madison Falls is wonderful. Just an easy walk, maybe only a couple of hundred yards from the parking lot, to the falls. Great photo stop.
If its too crowded at the Dungeness Spit or Hurricane Ridge, check this place out. Fantastic, peaceful, easy walk through an old growth forest that takes you down to the rocky shore of the Salish sea. Great place to take a picnic lunch and watch the surfers and maybe see a whale.
Lyre Conservation Area
Reynold RoadIf its too crowded at the Dungeness Spit or Hurricane Ridge, check this place out. Fantastic, peaceful, easy walk through an old growth forest that takes you down to the rocky shore of the Salish sea. Great place to take a picnic lunch and watch the surfers and maybe see a whale.
Want to go for a quick walk or bike ride? Just around the corner from our guest home is the Olympic Discovery trail. The trail goes all the way to Port Townsend or out to the coast and is a mostly paved trail through the forest.
