Our favourite place to cook down in the summer. There’s a fresh water pools which have turtles. You can see the little ones if you’re lucky in the early evening during their breeding season.
Drive up to the natural bridge and do a short walk and even visit the glow worm caves if you have time!

Nice place for tapas and a drink. They also have decent coffee and breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Worth trying if you’re looking for somewhere organic and local (I believe they’ve moved up from Byron Bay)

Everything is great here and it’s close to the theme parks! Awesome coffee and Sian is a fantastic host and chef (she’s kiwi). If you’re here during the week, grab some takeaway lunch from their sister shop Squeezy’s.

You would’ve heard that almost 200,000 New Zealanders live in Queensland...? They make the best fush and chups (fish and chips) and they are legendary! The seafood in QLD is tasty and the family pack was a firm Friday night favourite with our boys when they were younger. It can feed 4 (including 2 adults and 2 hungry teenagers...more people/children if you eat a small amount)

A smaller shopping centre than Robina and Pacific Fair. You will find most things here though. The restaurants and cafes here are varied and we haven’t visited all...lovely outdoor seating and super relaxed just like the Gold Coast!

This is such a nice place to take children to see different sea animals. The dolphin show is awesome!

A great place to go for walks. Choose a long walk or just a 20-min one....this is where you can get in touch with the beautiful hidden secret of the Gold Coast, it’s hinterland.
This was actually the first national park we visited when we moved to the Gold Coast 6 years ago. You can do short 15-30 minute walks but also can choose some longer ones.

If you don’t like waves, this is a nice place to swim. Also, you can swim in a special cordoned off area! My children enjoyed many lazy afternoons/days here with a park nearby where you can take your sausages or meat patties to cook. We have lots of gas cooktops that are easy to use. Remember to take foil which you can put on top of these and then cook (ask me directly if you’re not sure what I mean 😊). Any of our supermarkets have ready to go salads and voila! You have a bbq meal ready to go for the family.
There is a few km walking footpath along the beach too from here and nearby cafes and ice cream shops if you’d rather not cook!
