Wild Craft is local fare served really well on a reasonable budget. Perfect for lunch, in our opinion, but a lot of guests go for a quick dinner. Foodies love it, Veggies and Vegans adore it alike :)

The Gamekeeper is far and away our top restaurant in the area. Heavy on wild game, but their veggie option is always spot on! Local fare, expensive, romantic and a must-visit for a celebration or proposal :)

My favorite upscale restaurant close by. Chef is excellent, food is on point. It is pricey, but if you want to splurge on a meal in downtown Boone, VIDALIA does not disappoint.

Grandfather Mountain has a mile high swinging bridge to cross, hiking trails, a zoo, plenty to keep you busy for a whole day. Do call before hand and make sure the entire mountain is open (if there is high wind they may close down the top!)
It is pricey, I think adults are near $18/person, kids half that.

Moses Cone created denim. Why wouldn't you want to visit his estate? Miles to explore, ponds for fishing, it is worth the trek and located just a couple miles from downtown Blowing Rock.

This is where you are staying. Set aside some time to spend on property exploring the acreage, the trails, finding hammocks and all the swings (maybe a TiPi in the summer months), various fire pits - you will be happy you set aside some time and weren't go-go-go during your trip. Sit back, relax and recharge on property!

Why do we recommend a Gem Mine an hour away? Because it is better than our options in Boone and Banner Elk. If gem mining is new to the kids, they will survive going to an option in Boone, not to worry. We choose to make the drive to Gem Mountain, but also visit either Linville Falls or Linville Caverns (located near Spruce Pine), so we tackle both which are nearby and make a great day trip out of the scenic drives.
