My Favorite Restaurants
This is a list of my favorite restaurants in Lake Charles. This list is not in any particular order of what is my favorite, so the last on the list is just as good as the first on the list. It depends upon what you are hungry for!!
You will not find any chain restaurants on this list. We do have them. They are all over town. But in comparison to our local restaurants, the chains just don't hold a candle!!! This isn't a complete list of local restaurants, but it is a list of what I think are some of the best we have to offer!!!

This is right around the corner from the B&B. I highly recommend the chicken tacos! They have a wonderful outside seating area if the weather is cooperating. You can even bring your pooches in the outdoor area. They have live music some nights too!

If you are looking for excellent food, this is a great place. They have a very nice selection of Steak, Lamb and Fish entree's. Save room for the Grand Marnier Souffle for dessert. It is a MUST!

In my humble opinion, this is the best Sushi place in town. You can find newer buildings and fancier dining rooms, but for great Japanese food, this is the place to go! My favorites are the Rainbow roll and the Princess roll. Best miso soup too.

If you want some really good Louisiana food, go to Pat's!! Make sure you get a cup of gumbo with your meal. You won't be disappointed. They do fried and grill seafood and steaks!!! This is a fantastic place if you have a large group. And if the entree you are looking at ordering looks like too much food, you can ask them for a 1/2 order of almost everything on their menu!!!

So, if you like banana flavored treats I recommend that you Rock the Casbanana or would you prefer lime, try the Sweet Child O'Lime pop. My personal favorite is I Caramelt With You. Are you a child of the 80's? I bet you hear the songs in your head right now! You can even play Pacman when you go in their shop!!! It is located on Country Club Rd in South Lake Charles.

MacFarlane's Celtic Pub
417 Ann StThis place is a great pub! They probably have the biggest selections of beers to choose from. The Celtic inspired food is delicious. I love the Shepherd's Pie. Make sure you try the spinach & artichoke dip as an appetizer. They have Rueben sandwiches if you are a fan and good fish & chips too! They have an outdoor patio area that is pet friendly!! It is in the historic Downtown District.
I won't say this is the best Mexican place in town, but the food is good. It is pretty much Tex-Mex. What it does have going for it is the best margaritas, and a view of the Lakefront! It has an outdoor patio area and is pet friendly!!

1201 N Lakeshore DrI won't say this is the best Mexican place in town, but the food is good. It is pretty much Tex-Mex. What it does have going for it is the best margaritas, and a view of the Lakefront! It has an outdoor patio area and is pet friendly!!
They have great home-made Southern-style plate lunches, dinners, burgers, New Orleans style poboys, gumbo and much much more! Try one of their redfish entrees for dinner!!

Gourmet hot dogs right in the middle of our historic Downtown District? Yes, that is right! Not cheap, but well worth it. You can create your own too. They also have burgers and pulled pork sandwiches. If you have room for dessert after eating, walk through the door on the side and you will be at Boombox Frozen Pops and Ice Cream! If you feel the need to walk off some of the calories, walk a block down to the Civic Center Lakefront for a nice walk along the lake!

I have gone to this restaurant since I was a kid and I can honestly say that I have NEVER gotten anything bad. Their food is consistently great! The Tony's special pizza is incredible. Are you watching your weight? They even have cauliflower crust pizza and fantastic salads. Do you like Po-boys? Try their Baked Italian Sub. OMG! It is my most favorite thing on their menu!!!! This is a great place for families!!! It is a MUST VISIT place!!!
Are you hungry for Lebanese or Greek food? This is your place!!! Try the hummus with Kawarma and make sure you ask for the homemade pita chips instead of the regular pita bread. You won't be disappointed.

Their pork crackins are great, but if you are like me and really enjoy the skin from fried chicken, then you need to try their chicken crackins!!! OMG they are so great that I might have to stop typing and drive over there to get a little brown bag of them! Yum!!

This is two great restaurants in one! The Villa Harlequin brings together two of the oldest restaurant family legacies in Lake Charles. The Harlequin always was a great Steaks and Seafood place and The Villa served fantastic Italian food. They have combined forces now with a menu consisting of a fusion between Harlequin and Villa favorites. Located in the Historic Noble Building at 324 Pujo St. in Downtown Lake Charles. Amanda Cusey, is the chef and, in my humble opinion, is the best chef anywhere from Houston to New Orleans. Her menu changes periodically, so I can't recommend a specific dish, but I can tell you I've never gotten anything there that was anything but absolute perfection!! They have combined forces now with a menu consisting of a fusion between Harlequin and Villa favorites. Located in the Historic Noble Building at 324 Pujo St. in Downtown Lake Charles. 710 Doctor Michael Debakey DriveThis is one of the newest restaurants in town. The menu is wonderful. But for lunch its a little pricey. If you go I recommend that you get the Crispy Brussel Sprouts. You can also visit one of their sister restaurants, Restaurant Calla or 121 Bistro.

Things to do in SW Louisiana
This is just a quick list of things to do in this area. It's just a tip of the bucket for what we have to offer in this area. I've included lots of things that kids would enjoy. But for more grown up events and for a much more complete list, I highly recommend making a quick trip to the Convention and Visitors Bureau on the Lakefront or go to https://www.visitlakecharles.org/ to find out everything that we offer. It really depends upon the time of year you are here. Louisiana is know as the Festival Capital of the world. You can find some sort of party going every week/weekend.

Millennium Park is on the south side with wonderful playground equipment and a nice splashpark for your kids to cool off in. There are usually food trucks parked nearby to purchase a sandwich or cool off with a snow cone. The seawall is a nice place to go for a walk or take a picnic basket and sit at one of the picnic tables. There are ducks and pigeons nearby too if you like to feed the birds.

Besides the casino, Golden Nugget has a world class golf course, great concerts every single weekend and they have a bunch of Landry's restaurants to eat at. I recommend Chart House. Try their Wicket Tuna appetizer. Yum!!! There is also a stunning view of the 210 bridge at sunset as the backdrop of their beautiful golf course. I recommend making reservations for Chart House, Vic & Anthony's, Grotto, Landry's Seafood, Lillie's Asian Cuisine and Saltgrass, especially if you are going on a weekend. The other places you should be able to get into without much trouble.

L'Auberge is not as large and it doesn't attract the concerts that Golden Nugget does, but they do host a lot of events and they have a beautiful golf course. They also have some great restaurants: Ember Grille (make reservations), Asia (great Asian cuisine) and Jack Daniel's Bar & Grill. I like the quieter feel of L'Auberge over Golden Nugget.

About 15 miles to the north is Sam Houston Jones State Park. Enjoy the outdoors. You will see an array of wildlife here including duck, geese, turtles, alligators, nutria rats, otters, etc. This park is located on the West Fork of the Calcasieu River and there is 2 boat launches available. At the time I am writing this I believe the admission is $3 a person to get in for the day.

107 Sutherland RdAbout 15 miles to the north is Sam Houston Jones State Park. Enjoy the outdoors. You will see an array of wildlife here including duck, geese, turtles, alligators, nutria rats, otters, etc. This park is located on the West Fork of the Calcasieu River and there is 2 boat launches available. At the time I am writing this I believe the admission is $3 a person to get in for the day.
This is a great place to visit and learn a little history of our area. It is a little over a mile from the B&B, so it's not far.

Here is a list of some of the places to shop here in Lake Charles. You can find just about anything you need or want, but most people aren't visiting Lake Charles for the shopping. LOL I am including the nearest Walmart, Target, drugstores and grocery stores at the beginning of this list for convenience sake, but I encourage you to scroll down the list for the specialty stores!! For reference when reading the driving directions on each of the descriptions: the B&B is on College Street, which runs east/west. One block to the west is Lake Street and an on-ramp to I-210. Two blocks to the east is Ryan Street and an on-ramp to I-210. Lake St and Ryan Street run north/south.
Head west just one exit down 1-210 on Nelson Rd is the nearest Walmart. When you get off on Nelson Rd. turn left and you will see Walmart. This is a supercenter so it does include groceries.
