Coffee & Pastries

The perfect place to enjoy your morning or afternoon cup of coffee. Located on the Truckee River, you can enjoy the view from inside on a chilly day, or if the sun is out sit on the patio or go for a walk along the river. There is a second location within walking distance to our home with nice atmosphere too we just think the riverside on is better. 727 Riverside Dr (775) 453-1911

Lake Tahoe offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The waters are crystal clear and depending on the time of year either freezing cold or perfectly refreshing. Some recommended easy access beaches are Zephyr Cove, Sand Harbor, and Kings Beach. The east shore of the lake has dozens of smaller beaches that you need to hike to. A good rule of thumb for finding them is park wherever you see other cars parked (being mindful of the no parking zones), look for a trail, and hike down.

SUP and kayaking We recommend Sand Harbor on Lake Tahoe’s east shore. They offer kayak and paddle board rentals as well as lessons and tours http://sandharborrentals.com . The east shore of Lake Tahoe is the most sparsely populated and from here you can explore crystal clear waters and granite boulders. Be sure to arrive early, this beach is very popular.

Walks There are some great walking/bike paths along the Truckee river right here in Reno and up by Tahoe City. The Arboretum in Rancho San Rafael Park is lovely to see during all seasons of the year and is good for escaping the summer heat

Skiing and Snowboarding Lake Tahoe is a premiere ski and snowboard destination. With 14 individual ski resorts there is something for everyone. Mt. Rose is the closest and has the highest base elevation. It’s about 27 miles from here and has some excellent terrain for every ability level. If you are after more of the village and apres ski vibe we suggest either Northstar at Tahoe or Squaw Valley. Both resorts have ice skating rinks and huge villages for those who prefer shopping to skiing. Northstar has more beginner and intermediate slopes, while Squaw has enough steeps and cliffs to satisfy even the most expert of skiers. Don’t know how to ski yet and don’t want to spend a lot of money to learn/rent equipment then check out Donner Ski Ranch. A small little resort but perfect for first timers.

Snowshoeing There are some wonderful places to go snowshoeing in the Sierras. Our favorite area is called chickadee ridge. It’s named after the tiny birds whose call sounds roughly like “cheeeeese buuuur-ger.” If you bring some bird seed or nuts with you these fearless little guys will land right on your hand to eat them. This route is also a favorite of ours because the climb up is mild and on a clear day you are rewarded with and excellent view of Lake Tahoe at the top.
