A-OK Cafe is the in-house coffee shop of Aritizia's flagship Yorkville store, selling washed Colombian coffee and croissants to shoppers before and after spending sprees. This sprawling location is the only one to have its own coffee shop, and like the rest of the store, the cafe is super lush, with velvet and brass details. We definitely recommend for in-house brews and fancy french pastries!

Cafe Bora is a Korean dessert chain that loves its purple sweet potatoes. Marking its first entry into Canada with a subsurface store in Yorkville, almost everything at Cafe Bora is made from the sweet, fleshy bodies of purple yams.

Sorelle and Co. is Toronto’s most indulgent and prettiest vegan cafe completely free of nuts, gluten, soy, sesame, and preservatives. Sorelle means “sister” in Italian, fitting as the entire concept was inspired by one mother’s struggles with raising five little girls with allergies. This bakery (conveniently located just below the building) offers the cutest and most scrumptious assortment of tiny desserts!

Figures is a restaurant that elevates its comic book theme. Cocktails are made with stormtrooper bitters artwork and Pac-Man dances in neon on the ceiling. The place has a speakeasy feel, with a small vintage toy shop in front wallpapered with comics by a local artist. The food menu here can perhaps best be described as a series of tapas, or sharable plates.

Sotto Sotto has been an Italian staple in Yorkville since 1993. Its original location was just a few doors down from this current place on Avenue Rd., before it succumbed to a fire. Thanks to curtains aplenty for creating privacy, this intimate spot is a celebrity magnet, as evidenced by the walls covered in photos of pretty much any Hollywood movie star one can possibly think of. It’s also known as Drake’s second home; he name checks Sotto in at least two of his tracks. Known for old-school Italian food, chefs Massimo Renzi and Luigi Sellaro are cooking up Roman-style fare. Owner Marisa Rocca is originally from Rome, and in addition to whole grilled fish and veal scaloppine, her mother’s “Bolognese Mamma Laura” lasagna is a regular favourite.

STK is a steakhouse befitting the Yorkville neighbourhood. With its imposing metal sign, doormen, and posh second floor dining room, it fits right in. The global franchise, with locations in places like Las Vegas, Milan, London and Ibiza, keeps elements of all locations consistent, but allows local chefs to play with the menu. I'm inclined to call it "Steak" out loud as this place is primarily a steakhouse, but it's pronounced S-T-K, following the recent trend of everyone being too cool for vowels.

Best Bars!

Bar Reyna is a regal two-storey spot in Yorkville . The menu, from chef Omar Ma, draws inspiration from Mediterranean regions and offers an eclectic selection of table snacks, single bites and shareable entrees. It's also the destination for what might be one of Toronto's most lavish cocktails. Her Royal Highness ($30) arrives in metallic pineapple tumbler. It's is a three-ounce bevy of vodka and rum scented with saffron and cardamom and sweetened with almond syrup.

dbar is just one of Daniel Boulud's many culinary conquests. Boulud, the French chef and restaurateur, owns restaurants in France, New York, Vegas Montreal and Toronto - and what better neighbourhood to house his Toronto locale than Yorkville. In the Four Seasons Hotel, dbar is a chic lounge that offers elegant cocktails and serves both a French and American cuisine.
