The Luna Cinema is the country's leading producer of open air cinema events. Our screenings follow one simple formula: a classic film on a big screen in a beautiful or prestigious setting. We use state of the art screens, digital projectors and bespoke sound equipment to provide a cinema quality visual and audio experience, but with the magic of being under the stars. Our team have a vast experience and have staged hundreds of screenings across an enormous array of sites from London parks to country manor houses and castles, via swimming pools, theatres and ruined abbeys. The Isabella Plantation is a 40 acre woodland garden set within a Victorian woodland plantation planted in the 1830's. First opened to the public in 1953, it is best known for its evergreen azaleas, which line the ponds and streams and at their peak of flower in late April and early May. Located in the gardens are the National Collection of Wilson 50 Kurume Azaelas (introduced to the west from Japan in the 1920's by the plant collector Ernest Wilson), large collections of Rhododendrons and Camellias, plus many other rare and unusual trees and shrubs which provide interest all year round. Part of the parklands conservation designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, the site is managed very much with nature in mind and the gardens are run on organic principles. Native plants commonly grow alongside exotics throughout the Plantation. Perimeter and shelterbelt areas are planted with native nectar and berry bearing trees and shrubs to provide food and shelter for birds, bats and insects. The Plantation's ponds and stream provide additional habitat for invertebrates and amphibians.

Great Local Pub. The Mute Swan is right opposite the gates of Hampton Court Palace, in a wonderfully characterful pub, the building which itself dates back hundreds of years. You will find a curved bar right at the heart of the pub, with a decent selection of cask ales, a back shelf crammed with malts and a collection of gins, with a wine list of some 50 absolute belters. Hand on heart, we put a lot of research into that one, and have left no wine stone unturned... Downstairs at the Mute Swan is more pubby/wine bar in style, and focussed on the bar, while upstairs has a more food-led restaurant ambience - but the menu is available throughout so people can choose which style suits them best. Outside, right opposite the gates to Hampton Court Palace, we have a terrace for al fresco drinking and dining, which is a draw on sunny days and a fine place for a spot of lunch or just some people watching over coffee. https://www.brunningandprice.co.uk/muteswan/menus/daily-menu/

unique 17th-century treasure trove This rare and atmospheric 17th-century house sits on the banks of the River Thames in Richmond. It is the creation of the tenacious Duchess of Lauderdale and her husband, the Duke, who together transformed Ham into one of the grandest Stuart houses in England. Ham House is internationally recognised for its superb collection of paintings, furniture and textiles, largely acquired 400 years ago. Some of our unique objects include a rare Chinese teapot, said to have been used by the Duchess herself, and the exotic ivory cabinet. The house is reputed to be one of the most haunted in Britain. Some visitors have reported the ghostly aroma of the sweet Virginia pipe tobacco that the Duke smoked after meals in the dining room. Visit the hands on below stairs room; including the bathroom, complete with a wooden bathtub and bed, illustrates how baths were taken before washing became an everyday event. Selected rooms in the house are open by guided tour during the winter months, with tickets on a first come first served basis. Outside, the open and formal restored 17th-century gardens surround the house. It includes a productive kitchen garden containing many heritage crops, the maze-like ‘Wilderness’, complete with summerhouses, and many beautiful spots perfect for a picnic. The Orangery café set in the kitchen garden serves light lunches and teas. The café is set in one of the first examples of an Orangery, however it was not an ideal building for plants to grow as the windows are small and very little light could reach the orange and lemon trees.
