It costs 200 yen to enter but this is a must see in Tomonoura.Also, don’t forget to stroll around the port of Tomo.

In the Heian period（more than 1000 years before), on the outskirts of Tomo were built Seikan-ji Temple by Saicho (founder of the Tendai sect of Buddhism in Japan) and Io-ji Temple by Kukai (founder of the Shingon sect of Buddhism in Japan), serving as the hubs of the both Tendai and Shingon teachings, respectively, to be spread over the southern Bingo Province.

In the Heian period（more than 1000 years before), on the outskirts of Tomo were built Seikan-ji Temple by Saicho (founder of the Tendai sect of Buddhism in Japan) and Io-ji Temple by Kukai (founder of the Shingon sect of Buddhism in Japan), serving as the hubs of the both Tendai and Shingon teachings, respectively, to be spread over the southern Bingo Province.

Food Scene

You can eat many kinds of flesh fish of Setonaikai at this Japanese restaurant, which opened in 1989. Since the owner had sold a fish for many years , he can get very flesh fish by taking advantage of fishermen network Setouchi. Recommended dishes well-cooked by using the sea bream locally. Please try to eat excellent Japanese cuisine here.
