Nathaniel Hawthorne worked there when he wrote The Scarlet Letter. In fact the prologue is all about his slacker co-workers. I recommend reading the prologue before taking the tour.

A local favorite is a Chop Suey Sandwich from Salem Lowe. You'll either love it or hate it. Games, arcades and kiddie rides. A pier, two small beaches and picnic areas.
