You can day trip to Alert Bay for free on the ferry, and be back in time for the sunset from your patio at Malcolm Island Inn. See the Bighouse Traditional Dancing in July and August. See the Totem Poles and the gift shops and the fishing boats. You might even see some whales and dolphins from the ferry on your way to Cormorant Island.

Beautiful Bay Trail starts at Bere Point Campsite and winds along a ridge through stunning rain forest with periodic glimpses of the sea and coastal mountains. It is 5 km one way and if the tide is right you can walk back along the beach.

Mateoja Heritage Trail begins on 3rd st and 9th ave above the town. There are numerous decks and benches and boardwalks through marshland and bog. It is a lovely forest trail about 4 miles long.

Nature surrounds us on Malcolm Island. We do not have any cougars or bears here so it is safe and relaxing to hike anywhere on the island. We have designated hiking trails and easy access to many beaches. It is very quiet and peaceful here and we have amazing sunsets.

Nans Hands Gift Shop and Studio. For unique handcrafted gifts. Sally is a primitive rug hooker, crocheter, soap maker, fiber and glass artist and gardener. Her husband is a talented woodworker. Sally also carries a wide selection of art from local artists.

See the whales tails carved by a local Finnish carver and other work by local carvers. There is a little shop with vintage and antique items for sale too. Stop by and have a look.

節約術

Bring binoculars and rain gear.

There is limited food services on Malcolm Island in the off season. We have a guest kitchen in the hotel. The Co-op store is closed Sunday and Monday so you will need to bring food on those days. Ask us for rates on extended stays in the off season.

Kids can happily play for hours on the beaches here. Ask to borrow our identification guides and we'll tell you where the best beaches are.
