Downtown Mill Valley is perfect for exploring. You can drive downtown in 10 minutes from the cottage or enjoy an easy 25-30 minute 1 mile walk down the hill, via the famous Dipsea stairs, to downtown. Just be warned that you'll have to come back up the same way!
Mill Valley is full with charming shops, coffee shops, restaurants, the famous Sweetwater Music Hall, there are often live events/music taking place in the Depot and so on.
