Lake Access Fun

A couple choices for enjoying the Lake, - if you'd like a structured "beach"-type area there's Jacob's Creek Recreation Area it's a State Park with a swimming area and restrooms. Sportsman's Marina is closer (actually in Va. but a 10 min. drive) with bar and restaurant and water rentals ( Kayaks inflatables and even a "Jet Blade") and then there's the low-rent option of several "swimming holes" around the hwy 421 bridge as you cross the Lake. You can swimm near the public boat launch, but I prefer to go on the other side of the bridge from the Hwy 421 public boat launch, there's a parking area with a trail across the flat spot (past the big rocks that define the parking and over to the left going into the woods) this trail will take you around that finger of the lake ( approx 8 minute walk) to a sweet peninsula that faces the bridge and has really nice easy lake entry. Bring shoes for walking in the lake! This is in addition to Friendship Marina ( 5 mins from cabin) and Laural Marina both of which rent boats. Have fun and stay cool !!
