Hiking & Waterfalls
This is a must if you are looking for amazing views! Loop trail.
You can walk up the easy side and cascade across the mountain top for the trail back down or vice versa if you are looking for the challenge hike up the trail. Some of us, just enjoy walking up and down the steady (easier) incline side just to enjoy the view.

This is a beautiful waterfall that never fails to amaze. For those with mobility issues, there is a viewing spot adjacent to the parking lot. For the more adventurous, take the stairs down to the waterfall where you walk behind it and enjoy the cold spray and view down the Cullasaja River. Kids love the adventure. This is a good stop for returning from the Jackson Hole Gem Mine or Franklin, NC.
*The parking lot is small and can get backed up sometimes with the line extending to the road. This is best to visit when heading south, returning to Highlands, so that you have the parking lot on your right and turn and can sit in the line safely on the right side of the road.
