This is a fun place with karaoke or live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday that is only a short drive from the lake. The food is very good and reasonable. Casual and family-friendly.

Shopping
There is a Brookshire Grocery and a Hardware store in Hawkins as well as a Sonic Drive-In.
Mineola, Texas is about a 22 minute drive. It is a fun little town with many antique stores and eateries ranging from finer dining to fried pies. There is also a Walmart in Mineola.
Canton, Texas is best known for “First Monday Trade Days”. This is the largest, continually running flea market in America featuring over 5,000 vendors. Trade days are held one weekend per month, on Thursday through Sunday prior to the first Monday of the month, year-round.
If you love quaint antique stores and fun shopping and dining you will love Gladewater, Texas which is only about 25 miles away.

Lake Activities
Lake Hawkins is a beautiful lake with beautiful water known to be one of the clearest water lakes in East Texas. It is known for great fishing, boating and water activities.
Lake Hawkins RV Park has a daily use fee of $5 a person and is well worth it. It offers a huge sandy beach, a place to park your boat when you are ready for a break, picnic tables, restrooms and a small fishing dock. Awesome place!
Beautiful lake for fishing and water sports. The Lake Hawkins RV Park is open to the public and has an amazing white beach, boat docks and picnic areas. It is well worth the $5 a person per day entry fee.
