Too many amazing hikes to list in the area. *You can hike around behind the house but PLEASE be very mindful and careful as you are in bear and mountain lion country that is not frequented by humans as there are no maintained trails behind the house.
Check out "All Trails " app or map on wall in entry for some guidance with many maintained trails within minutes of the house. There's a nice trailhead about 5 miles north on 250 (on your right small parking lot) from the house that takes you up quickly switchback trail with great Animas Valley views.

Do not let your kids play outside unsupervised after dusk
You are in a beautiful but wild place and we have recent mountain lion and bear sightings near the house. Do not leave the dutch door split open or any outside doors propped open at night. Exercise caution and common sense please.

Hikes
Some of our fave hikes. Look them up on all trails app or just Google. Junction Creek, Animas Mountain Trail, Chapman Hill to the Sky Steps and back park at Chapman Ski Hill, Molas Lake on way Silverton, Potato Lake via Spud Lake Trail, Engineers Mountain Trail if you want to Summit a big peak that is do-able. *Start early morning.
