Shopping streets (Váci utca), Probably the most well known shopping street in Budapest is Vaci street the long and picturesque shopping street, which runs along the river Danube on the bustling Pest side of the city – no cars, pedestrians and shoppers only. Back then the Promenade was home to several famous hotels such as the Ritz, the Bristol and the Carlton. Their cafés, overlooking the Danube and the Buda Castle were immensely popular. These days a new row of luxury hotels attempts to recreate the pre-war ambiance.
