Kileleshwa and kilimani should be the closest surbubs from the CBD. Probably the best in terms of shopping,dining,accomodation and convenience. Might be on the more pricey side though.

Ride hailing apps
Uber and bolt are the best going around town or going to and from the airport.
Move between 1030am and 3pm to avoid traffic. Safeboda is a motorbike hailing app. You could use that too if in a hurry or are travelling light.
No motorbikes allowed at the airport.
