Sightseeing
If you driving there, you can park in the botanic gardens for free, then walk the perimeter of the park. The paths are wide and suitable for prams, scooters and bikes. Great place to take the kids for a bike ride. Hagley park features the Christchurch Botanical Gardens, a café, an ice-cream shop, paddling pools (summer only), toilets, kids playground, information centre, the Avon river which you can kayak or punt on (via Antigua Boat Shed), a golf course, sports grounds, cricket oval and netball courts. Christchurch Hospital is located on the edge of the gardens, as is the museum, a lovely restaurant, The Curator's House.
