It's going to take you a good two hours of walking on a steep pre-Alpine tiny path to get to the Murelli Refuge from Carate Urio but the view of the lake and of the Alpi mountains will be worth the effort. And you can enjoy some local dishes such as "pizzoccheri" (pasta with potato, herbs and cheese) or Valtellina's nebbiolos (red wine).

In the day-time Moltrasio offers a public beach with coffee-shop, boat-rentals, and access to the spa facilities of the Imperiale Hotel, available also for non-guests. You can also walk in the tiny streets and join trekking paths leading to the top of the surrounding mountains.
In the evening, if you want to enjoy a peaceful dinner near the lake, Moltrasio offers a number of nice restaurants, some with great lake views, still maintaining a cosy atmosphere.
From Moltrasio, also, frequent boat connections allow to get to Como and Bellagio by lake, if you like to avoid using a car.
