Food Scene

Bibimbap is one of my favorite foods and this place has the best bibimbap in town. If you like bibimbap, you have to check it out. I recommend the classic bulgogi bibimbap with black rice. This is more of a take-out place, though they do have some seating.

Unpretentious and pretty solid French food that's just down the street. The waiters here actually speak French, so that's always a good sign. My only complaint about this place is the bread (which just isn't that good and should be better for a French restaurant).

Essentials

The only downside to Dupont Circle is that there isn't a great grocery store nearby. Folks in the neighborhood have nicknamed this the "Soviet Safeway" because it's not really a full grocery store and is often out-of-stock on things. Still, it's the closest. Other options include the Harris Teeter on Kalorama Road (in Adams-Morgan), Whole Foods on P Street, or Glen's Garden Market (organic, but insanely expensive).

Arts & Culture

The Phillips Collection touts itself as America's "first museum of modern art" and has a small but impressive permanent collection. It includes Renoir's famous "Luncheon of the Boating Party" and paintings from Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Rothko, and Miro, among others. The permanent collection is free (suggested donation) on weekdays, so definitely stop by to check it out! It's literally a block away!
