“From the car park, the track descends through native bush with plenty of bird life to Bobs Cove. It has a stunning view over Lake Wakatipu and offers swimming and shore fishing. A historic lime kiln remains from the 1800s, when the Wakatipu Lime Company quarried and processed Bobs Cove limestone. Gum trees here were planted to fuel the kilns. This track connects to the Twelve Mile Delta Track.”

Lake
“Child friendly walk up to a small hidden lake. Decent hill at the beginning but easy from there - our 5 and 8 year old managed it. You could take a buggy, but would have to navigate the style at the bottom.”

“Family friendly beach for swimming. Great picnic spot. Good place to bike the Frankton Track to Queenstown town centre on (about 7km) which is flat but stunning views next to the lake”

Beach
“Take a dip if you dare at Frankton Beach on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The temperature of the lake doesn't vary much above 12 degrees, but it is wonderfully refreshing on a hot day in summer. Take a picnic and your towels or beach chairs, and relax on the shore side with the locals.”

“OK, definitely one of my absolutely favourite local walks. But the first 30 minutes is a solid uphill slog, following by crossing a path built over a water pipe. The track is very safe, but if you don't have a head for heights, the pipe section might be challenging. I'm not great with heights, and manage this ok, because the views from the platform on a clear day are well worth the effort!”

“For one of the best views of Queenstown and an iconic experience in the alpine resort, there’s the Tiki Trail. Starting at the bottom of the gondola the Tiki Trail winds its way towards the lookout at the top where you have the option of making your way back down, after a few photos and a drink, or if the climb has got the better of you relax in the Gondola for the journey back down.”
